What is an internship?

I will say, it is a chance to learn more about your specialized field, get your feet wet in real time work environment and gain valuable experience out of it.

Top 5 Reasons to do an internship.

1) Gain Precious Experience

Having an internship gives you an opportunity to apply the learned knowledge in real world experience. In addition to learning about concentrated fields, students get a chance to learn soft skills such as teamwork, communication, conflict analysis & resolution, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

2) Chance to figure out a career Path

Doing an internship allows students to work in a specialized field and make them decide if the path they are choosing is good for them. It is like a test-drive with short commitment, you have just committed for 3–4 months, if you feel the field is not right for you can change the gear.

It is always better to learn early if the field is not right for you

3) More Learning less Pressure

Internship offers an exceptional learning chance that you may not get later. It allows you to try new experiments without the pressure of failure. During my internship project, I got a chance to try and test many technologies I have not worked on before. Employees expect you to take risks, learn from mistakes, ask questions, and get motivated to get better results.

4) Maximize your marketability

Internship makes students more marketable as they are ready to take more responsibility with less training. Students who already have experience may also receive higher pay than those who did not interned. Training during internship gives you a comfort level with the professional world and gives you confidence to demand more and get faster.

5) Good Networking in your field

Fancy word says connection is very important. Why? Because your connection can get hired. Being referred from a manager, former employee or supervisor always stands out to potential employees. Internship is much more than simply about credit, money, and grade; it offers you an opportunity to interact with professionals and impress them with your thought process. Speaking from my own experience, my internship helped me to get connected with many useful professionals which can give me a very strong reference in future.

Internship is an investment in your career. It was such a great experience. I thank all my colleagues who helped me in my internship journey, I will never forget the lesson I learn, guidance I got. I don’t know where the next phase of my life will take me, but I am sure the story of my internship always gives me a smile.

So yeah! Internship gives you plenty of valuable experience, memories and connection which will be helpful in a long run 😊
